On Saturday November 2nd, I had the pleasure of seeing Donna McKechnie perform her cabaret show entitled My Musical Comedy Life, at the Metropolis Theatre in Arlington Heights, IL. Ms. McKechnie was absolutely wonderful singing and dancing, performing a bevy of songs including: "You Could Drive a Person Crazy", the Andrews Sisters style trio that Steven Sondheim penned for her in Company; "If You Could See Me now," from Sweet Charity; and "The Music and the Mirror," her signature routine from A Chorus Line. Afterwards, my friend Rich Blanco and I had the pleasure of meeting with her in the lobby. She had remembered meeting us two weeks earlier in Nyack, N.Y. where we saw her perform in the Jerry Herman Revue Showtune. Ms. McKechnie was very gracious in signing our programs, posing for photos, and even granted us a short video interview. Below are photos of both Rich and me with Donna. The pages that follow include a transcript of the short interview I conducted with her, as well as a revue of her cabaret performance in a Chicago Theater Magazine, and images of her billing in the theatre's program.
