Dark Shadows
Ron Barry Radio Interviews

While home sick one day back in the late
1960's, W.E.S.T. radio disc jockey Ron Barry happened to catch an episode of
Dark Shadows on T.V. He immediately fell in love with the show, and eventually
ventured down to the studios in New York City to meet the players and watch
tapings of the show.

Over the course of the next couple of years or so, Mr. Barry conducted a series
of interviews with members of the cast, both, in the W.E.S.T. studios, as well
as via the telephone. He interviewed Jonathan Frid on four separate occasions,
with the third interview also including fellow cast members; Grayson Hall,
Humbert Allen Astredo, Robert Rodan, Roger Davis, and Don Briscoe. Candid audio
from this time period is so rare, making these interviews that much more
interesting to listen to. To hear Grayson laugh in a relaxed non-acting
environment is delightful, and Humbert interjects with his quick witted comments
as well.
Mr. Barry also had occasion to interview Thayer David for W.E.S.T. during the
early run of the 1897 episodes. It is wonderful to hear a candid Mr. David doing
the voices of the various characters he had played to that point, and describing
how he went about creating the different voices and accents.
Finally, this Double CD concludes with Bonus Tracks that contain the very rare
radio spots for the theatrical films; House of Dark Shadows & Night of Dark
Shadows. There are six of these spots for House and five for Night.
All the material on this DOUBLE CD has been "remastered" from audio
tapes, to provide the best possible sound quality of these 30 year old
interviews.
