Those of us who attended the Collins Association Halloween party in Norwalk Conn. a couple months later were fortunate enough to see Louie again. He had had an accident the night before and his head was wrapped in a bandage. (See photos below) He told the gathering what had happened. He had been sleeping and dreaming about playing tennis and in his dream he went to hit the ball and fell out of his bed and hit his head. Well, you can see in the photos below it left quite a nasty gash. After the accident had occurred he basically was up the rest of the night with his nurse Robert applying cold compresses to it and treating it as best he could. Louie told us that since he was unable to make the party the year before due to illness, he didn't want to disappoint the fans by not showing up this year. Needless to say he received a standing ovation from the gathering. Louis was also honored at the event by all the other actors who recounted their individual experiences in working with Louie. Here we see David Selby talking about working with Louie.
Even though he was under the weather, Louie still managed to have a good time goofing off with everyone. Here we see him about to give Roger Davis the yank off the stage with his cane, as well as Louie and I in front of the mansion where he play acts that my saber caused his injury. Ed Lambese put on a great tribute to Louie that weekend that included presenting this cake to him.
At the Halloween party Louie asked when we planned to go out to the Island again. We told him that we were planning on doing so in the spring, and he said to keep him posted as to what the dates would be because he was really interested in joining us out there for a couple days. For Christmas that year I had made several of my friends collages of past Festival photos with Collinwood as the backdrop in the frame. I also made one for Louie using the snow covered photo of Lyndhurst that appears on my collectibles page as the backdrop in the frame. He called me to thank me for the photo and asked if we had decided on any dates yet for Fire Island. We hadn't, but I told him I would get back to him when we did. At this time he told me he was expecting a new member to the family after the New Year. I was kind of surprised and asked who was joining his family. He told me he was considering getting a whippet (a dog) after he returned to Long Island from his Louisiana home. Here is a photo of Tadzu.
