Dark Shadows Audio InterviewsHaving been one of those kids who ‘ran home from school ’ to watch Dark Shadows back in the late 1960’s - early 1970’s, I have a deep fondness for any nostalgia surrounding the show. Since re-discovering Dark Shadows in 1991, my pursuit for vintage interviews from those early studio days has been constant. Listed below are three CD’s of NEW material featuring rare audio treasures from those days gone by. NEW! Jonathan Frid Studio Days Interviews. This CD contains audio of two wonderful T.V. interviews Dick Cavett conducted with Jonathan Frid in 1969 & 1970, as well as audio of a 1968 T.V. interview Mr. Frid did with Mike Douglas. BONUS TRACK: 1987 WNBC radio interview with Jonathan Frid, Kathryn Leigh Scott, and Donna Wandrey. ONLY $15.00!
Grayson Hall is arguably one of the more charismatic actress’s to have appeared on Dark Shadows. Unfortunately, her life was cut short by cancer, and she passed away in 1985 having never attended a Dark Shadows Festival. Outside the memories the other actors have shared of working with her, there is very little documentation of this remarkable woman and actress…until now!!! ‘A Conversation With Grayson’ takes us on a journey back to the year 1974, where we find ourselves in the living room of Grayson Hall’s NYC apartment. Listening to the candid laughter in Grayson’s deep coarse voice as she relates memories of working on Dark Shadows is PRECIOUS!! Over 70 minutes in length, Grayson also shares memories of filming Night of the Iguana, recounts stories of NYC muggings she, husband Sam, and son Matt have experienced. Grayson also gives the three teenage girls conducting the interview a detailed description of her apartment and the antiques on display. This interview truly is PRICELESS! $15.00.
The Tom Synder Interviews CD contains two interviews the celebrated talk show host did with members of the Dark Shadows Cast prior to the 1989 and 1991 Dark Shadows Festivals. The 1989 Interview includes: Jonathan Frid, Kathryn Leigh Scott, and Lara Parker. The 1991 Interview features Dan Curtis, Jonathan Frid, and Dark Shadows Festival Chairman Jim Pierson. Running time over 70 minutes!!! $15.00
Ron Barry Radio Interviews While home sick one day back in the late 1960’s, W.E.S.T. radio disc jockey Ron Barry happened to catch an episode of Dark Shadows on T.V. He immediately fell in love with the show, and eventually ventured down to the studios in New York City to meet the players and watch tapings of the show. Over the course of the next couple of years, Mr. Barry conducted a series of interviews with members of the cast, both, in the W.E.S.T. studios, as well as via the telephone. He interviewed Jonathan Frid on four separate occasions, with the third interview also including fellow cast members; Grayson Hall, Humbert Allen Astredo, Robert Rodan, Roger Davis, and Don Briscoe. Candid audio from this time period is so rare, making these interviews that much more interesting to listen to. To hear Grayson laugh in a relaxed non-acting environment is delightful, and Humbert interjects with his quick witted comments as well. Mr. Barry also had occasion to interview Thayer David for W.E.S.T. during the early run of the 1897 episodes. It is wonderful to hear a candid Mr. David doing the voices of the various characters he had played to that point, and describing how he went about creating the different voices and accents.
This Double CD concludes with Bonus Tracks containing the very rare radio spots
for the theatrical films; House of Dark Shadows & Night of Dark Shadows. All the
material on this DOUBLE CD has been "re-mastered" from audio tapes to provide
the best possible sound quality of these 30 year old interviews. Reg.
